Job Title:               Senior Staff Accountant

Supervisor:           Chief Financial Officer
 
Qualifications:      
  • High School Graduate or equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field;
  • Three years in a non-profit accounting position;
  • Audit experience preferred;
  • 10-key proficiency;
  • Detail Orientated;
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills;
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and juggle priorities;
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
  • Basic accrual accounting principles and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and make some decisions when necessary;
  • Able to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and work effectively in a fast pace environment;
  • Experience with Abila Non-Profit Accounting software a plus;
  • Must be able to read and write English 
Duties:                  
  • Oversee and supervise Staff Accountant;
  • Maintain all records of grant expenditures with proper documentation;
  • Prepare and input general ledger entries with the proper documentation attached;
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts, including proper documentation by the 15th of the following month;                                    
  • Work with grant auditors to provide accurate and timely information;
  • Work directly with the CFO on all aspects of the Accounting Department functions;
  • File all paperwork in appropriate places;
  • Assist with the weekly changing of the departments back up tapes;
  • Monitor budget variance reports for each grant and review monthly with the Program Managers;
  • Maintain agency CAP plan and review quarterly;
  • Maintain both program & agency distribution codes, with the appropriate backup;
  • Approve daily check requests and compare with the budget to ensure there is money for the requested expense;
  • Assist in the development of the annual budgets with the CEO & CFO;
  • Prepare all budget modifications as need;
  • Prepare all grant quarterly and year end reports;
  • Maintain the grant operating expense file monthly by the 10th of the following month;
  • Attend all mandatory meetings/trainings;
  • Assist with answering phones;
  • Assist with the distribution of petty cash;
  • Assist with accurate records of residents’ personal items and/or savings;
  • Perform additional projects as assigned by the CFO;
  • Follow all policies and procedures of the agency.
Requirements:      
  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License;
  • Auto Insurance;
  • Clean driving record;
  • Ability to work possible weekends and holidays, when needed;
  • Employee will be required to complete a TB test, fingerprinting, drug screen (employment pending on drug screen), Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault training and CPR/First Aid certification.
Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm
