Job Title:

Senior Staff Accountant

Reports To:

Chief Financial Officer




Assist with answering phones;
Assist with the distribution petty cash;
Assist with accurate records of residents’ personal items and/or savings;
Maintain all records of grant expenditures with proper documentation;
Prepare and input general ledger entries with the proper documentation attached;
Reconcile all balance sheet accounts, including proper documentation by the 15th of the following month;
Work with grant auditors to provide accurate and timely information;
Work directly with the CFO on all aspects of the Accounting Department functions;
File all paperwork in appropriate places;
Assist with the weekly changing of the departments back up tapes;
Monitor budget variance reports for each grant and review monthly with the Program Managers;
Maintain agency CAP plan and review quarterly;
Maintain both program & agency distribution codes, with the appropriate backup;
Approve daily check requests and compare with the budget to ensure there is money
Assist in the development of the annual budgets with the CEO & CFO;
Prepare all budget modifications as need;
Prepare all grant quarterly and year end reports;
Maintain the grant operating expense file monthly by the 10th of the following month;
Attend all mandatory meetings/trainings;
Respond to all persons on agency grounds in a calm, supportive and professional manner
Follow all policies and procedures of the agency.


High School Graduate or equivalent;
Three years in a non-profit accounting position;
Ability to work independently and make some decisions when necessary; Detail oriented;
Excellent number ability;
Must be able to read and write English


Must have a valid California Drivers License;
Auto insurance;
Clean driving record;
Drug screen (Employment pending clean drug screen);
Complete 72 hour Domestic Violence Training.
