Valley Oasis was founded in 1981 as the Antelope Valley Domestic Violence Council. The organization was born out of the vision of Michael D. Antonovich, Supervisor of Los Angeles County’s 5th District, who, in 1980, established a task force to assess the local needs for domestic violence services. The task force’s findings revealed a significant need for a shelter to support victims in the region, and through Supervisor Antonovich’s efforts, a long-term lease was secured to meet that need.
In 2006, as we marked our 25th anniversary, we embraced a new identity and became Valley Oasis. Along with the name change, we adopted a new logo and tagline: NURTURE…HEAL…RENEW, reflecting our ongoing commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence.
As we enter our 44th year, we continue to expand our reach and impact, now offering over 16 programs designed to support individuals and families facing domestic violence and related challenges.
