From Homelessness to Hope: A Heartwarming Transformation

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, we want to share an inspiring story from our homeless program that reminds us of the power of second chances. A couple of years ago, we had the privilege of helping a participant find stable housing through our services. At the time, Darrel was struggling, uncertain of what the future held. But with support, determination, and hard work, his life has completely transformed.

Today, he’s not only thriving but working in human resources for Target, a role that speaks to his dedication and resilience. What’s even more heartwarming is that he’s chosen to give back to the very community that once supported him. This holiday season, Darrel joined us in helping other homeless participants, offering them hope and the chance for a fresh start through Target’s Adopt A Family Program.

Darrel worked closely with our CES Adults Program Director, Sheri Gorman, and TLS Coordinator, Shaneta Williams, to identify participants for the Adopt a Family program. One of those families was Latasha French, who received Darrel’s generous gift, expressed her gratitude, saying, “This gift is so awesome! Thank you so much for this, my kids are going to be so excited!”

This story is a powerful reminder that with the right resources and support, a brighter future is possible for anyone. We are proud to have played a part in his journey and grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting others in their path to stability and success.

Together, we can make a difference, one life at a time. If you’re interested in how you can give back or support our programs, please reach out to us to learn more about volunteer and donation opportunities or click here.

Testimonials

“I’m proud to share that I’ve successfully exited Valley Oasis’s Homeless Prevention Program and am now self-sufficient and stably housed. With the support of my case manager, Lisa Torres, and her supervisor, Cassandra Vasquez, I received the resources and encouragement I needed to rebuild my life. As a survivor of domestic violence with no family support, this program gave me hope, options, and the ability to thrive. I’m living proof that Valley Oasis programs work—and I’m deeply grateful for the faith and dedication of the team who stood by me.”
